Chain wrestling: Wrestling guide
Link shot, sprawl and re-shot so one failed attempt becomes the start of the next.
A single shot rarely works against someone who is expecting it. Wrestlers chain moves together: shoot, get sprawled on, circle out, hand fight, and shoot again from a new angle. Each move sets up the next one.
This is shadow wrestling. You rehearse the chains alone, in the air, at an easy pace, and stay on a soft surface throughout.
Key points
- Finish each move in a stance you can shoot or defend from.
- Think in pairs: a shot and its answer. Level change, sprawl. Hand fight, snap.
- Always move your feet after a sprawl, rather than lying on the floor.
- Change the level and the angle each time so no two shots look the same.
- Breathe, stay light, and keep every rep technical. Speed comes second.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Racing through the chain. Slow down. Every move should be complete before the next begins.
- Staying on the floor after a sprawl. Treat the sprawl as a step. Rise and circle every time.
- Shooting from the same spot. Change your angle with a step or pivot before you shoot again.
- Dropping your stance when tired. Take a rest. Sloppy reps teach bad habits.
