Privacy policy
Become Fighter has no account and no sign-in. Your training data stays on your phone. We don't run analytics or ads, and we don't sell or share your data.
The only outside service the app talks to is YouTube, when you open a lesson that has a video.
Who we are
For the purposes of UK data protection law, Become Fighter is the controller of any personal data described here. You can reach us at support@becomefighter.com.
What the app keeps on your phone
To remember your progress, the app saves the following in your phone's own app storage:
- the name you enter (optional), your main discipline and stance
- your settings, such as language, training days, session length, voice, bell and vibration
- lessons you've completed and quiz results
- sessions you've trained, how hard they felt and any notes you add
- streaks, XP, achievements, sparring progress and your career fight record
This data is not sent to us or to anyone else. We can't see it, and we can't recover it if it's lost. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it, under Apple's or Google's terms.
To delete it, open Settings › Data › Erase all data in the app, or uninstall the app.
Phone features the app uses
- Speech. The coach's voice uses your phone's built-in text-to-speech. The words spoken are combinations and round announcements, not anything about you.
- Vibration on calls and round changes, which you can turn off in Settings.
- Keep screen on while a round is running.
The app doesn't use your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photos, and it doesn't send notifications.
Lesson videos
Some lessons include a video from YouTube. These are embedded using YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you open a lesson with a video, the player loads from YouTube, and YouTube (Google) receives your IP address and basic device information. YouTube says it doesn't store cookies on your device in this mode until you play the video. What Google does with this data is covered by the Google privacy policy. Lessons without a video don't contact YouTube.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Become Fighter Pro, the purchase is made through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Apple or Google handle the payment, and we never see your card or bank details. The store tells the app whether you have an active subscription so it can unlock Pro features.
This website
becomefighter.com uses no cookies, analytics or tracking. It is hosted by Vercel, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. See the Vercel privacy policy.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply to you, and we delete them when they're no longer needed to help you.
Children
Become Fighter is not directed at children under 13. Because the app collects nothing from you, we don't knowingly hold any child's personal data.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to how it's used. Since your training data never leaves your phone, you control it directly. For anything else, such as an email you've sent us, contact support@becomefighter.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Changes
If we change how the app handles data, for example by adding account sync, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change reaches the app.
