How to put kickboxing combinations together
A full round that mixes everything: teeps, kicks, punches, checks and movement.
You now have a full kickboxing toolbox. This lesson is where you stop thinking about single techniques and start putting them into rounds.
The aim is rhythm: jab and teep to control range, kicks to the legs and body to slow the opponent, hands behind them to finish. Throw with purpose, reset often and breathe.
Key points
- Stay relaxed. Tense shoulders slow every technique.
- Start each round with jabs and teeps to find range.
- Mix levels: low, body, and the head only when you are warm and balanced.
- Move between combinations. Do not plant your feet.
- Check or step back when you imagine a kick coming at you.
- Quality over speed. Stay in control of your balance.
Common mistakes and how to fix them
- Going full speed too early. Build up across the rounds. The first round is for rhythm, not power.
- Standing still between combinations. Keep light on your feet. Movement is your defence.
- Only throwing kicks, or only punches. Aim to use both in every round. Mixing is what makes you hard to read.
- Ignoring the cool-down. Finish with stretching. Tight hips cause trouble in the next session.
